The International Development Speaker Series (IDSS) aims to stimulate, motivate, and support RAND researchers in bringing their talents to the pressing problems of the developing world. The series, founded and run by Pardee RAND students, engages the Pardee RAND and greater RAND community in an intellectual dialogue to grow RAND's role in international development research and supports a community of RAND researchers interested in these topics.

    Dr. Madhav Chavan, co-founder and president of Pratham USA, will discuss his organization's randomized controlled trial, in which they provided 800 Indian villages with tablet computers pre-loaded with educational software for grades 6-8 — but no teachers — for extracurricular learning.
